Farm management app for Ireland and UK farmers

The challenge

Farmers across Ireland and the UK faced a critical gap in farm management technology — they needed to log compliance requirements on-site in fields and barns where internet connectivity is unreliable or nonexistent. Existing tools either required constant connectivity or couldn't handle the complexity of regulatory compliance tracking for herd movements, medication records, and breeding data. The entire compliance workflow was paper-based, creating audit risks and administrative burden for thousands of farmers.

Our solution

We built Herdwatch — a cross-platform mobile ERP for farmers using Ionic, Angular 6, and Cordova that became the #1 farm management app in Ireland and the UK. The app's offline-first architecture uses LokiJS for local data storage, allowing farmers to log all compliance data without any internet connection. When connectivity is restored, automatic cloud sync ensures all records are safely backed up. The app covers the full farm management lifecycle: herd movements, medication administration, breeding records, and regulatory compliance logging — all from a mobile device. MobX handles complex state management across the app, while TypeScript ensures code reliability.
