The challenge
A globally renowned haircare brand with an extensive retail presence needed deeper insights into product sales and customer behavior across locations. Their data infrastructure was fundamentally broken. Despite having a data warehouse on Redshift, it had never been established as a single source of truth. Data from their ERP system and Shopify eCommerce platform was fetched via web scraping — a method that produced frequent transfer errors, especially when source UIs changed. Retailer data arrived in inconsistent Excel formats, heightening the risk of human errors. Their existing Tableau analytics solution couldn't deliver reliable insights because the underlying source data was flawed. No one trusted the numbers.
Our solution
We overhauled the client's entire data infrastructure in partnership with their internal team. We migrated the data warehouse from Redshift to Snowflake, establishing it as the authoritative single source of truth. Brittle web scraping was replaced with reliable, automated ETL pipelines built on Stitch — creating fail-proof data transfer from ERP, Shopify, and retailer systems. dbt handles all transformations with version-controlled, tested data models, ensuring consistency and auditability. We standardized retailer data ingestion, automating the conversion from varied Excel formats into structured warehouse tables. The result: clean, trustworthy data powering analytics dashboards that the business actually relies on for decision-making.
