The challenge
A leading US healthcare insurance company worked with hundreds of independent agents who sold its insurance plans through a legacy platform built on outdated technology. Policy registration was painfully slow — each registration took agents over an hour. The platform lacked remote access, so agents couldn't retrieve critical information in the field. Protected health information (PHI) compliance was at risk due to weak access controls. These usability issues frustrated agents to the point of switching to competing providers, directly impacting revenue. Meanwhile, management had no visibility into agent performance or sales trends — all analytics required manual report generation.
Our solution
We rebuilt the entire platform on Microsoft Dynamics 365 with a custom React.js frontend optimized for speed and usability. The new registration workflow reduced policy processing from 60+ minutes to under 30 minutes. We implemented role-based access controls and encryption to ensure full HIPAA compliance for PHI handling. Agents gained remote access from any device — tablet, phone, or laptop — enabling them to work efficiently in the field. For management, we deployed self-service Power BI dashboards with real-time views into agent performance, policy volumes, sales trends, and compliance metrics, eliminating the need for manual reporting.
